Searching for leads
Finding companies with fresh signals
0:00elapsed
A run usually takes a few minutes, because every lead is checked against its own source. You can keep working in the other tabs, and we will tell you when it is done.
| Company | Signal | Proof | Segment | Score | Status | Actions |

Nothing here yet. Add a lead below, import a spreadsheet on the Find leads tab, or press Find more clients to go hunting.
These are sample leads. Made up companies, so you can see how scoring and the drafts work. Clear them when you are ready for your own.
Add a lead
One company, one line each
Company is the only field you need. Add the rest when you have it.
The first email
Pick a lead. Client Scout drafts it. You make it yours.
Add an email we can reply to, like name@company.com
The draft reads the segment and the signal. An SMB hears the outcome. A boutique hears a peer. A large company hears throughput. Every draft opens with what you saw, never with you, and every one offers something before it asks for anything.
Before you send
Read it out loud once. If a line does not sound like something you would say across a coffee table, change it. One real detail you noticed beats a paragraph of polish.
Open in Gmail fills a compose window. Nothing sends until you press send there. One person, one email, written for them. Never a blast.
Find leads
Two ways to fill the pipeline
Run a live search from the Pipeline tab, or bring in a list you already have.
Run a search
Connect your Claude account. One screen, about a minute. Get a key, paste it, and it is tested for you on the spot.
Press Find more clients on the Pipeline tab. Each lead is checked against its own source, so a run takes a few minutes.
Check the proof link on each new lead before you write to anyone.
Every result arrives with a named decision maker, a contact route, a source link and a scored signal. Hiring posts are checked against the company's own careers page, people against their current role, and inboxes that would never reach a decision maker are left out. Anything that could not be confirmed is flagged rather than guessed, and a lead missing a person, a source or a contact route never reaches your pipeline.
Import a list
Copy straight out of Google Sheets or Excel and paste. Columns it reads: company, contact, role, email, linkedin, segment, signal, recency, detail, source, note. Duplicates by company name are skipped.
Where the signals live
Worth a browse when you want to add leads by hand.
- VC Backed, recently funded companies
- TechCrunch venture coverage
- LinkedIn, contract designer job posts
- Product Hunt, fresh launches
A company hiring a designer has budget and a gap. A company that just raised has money and pressure. Both are invitations.
How scoring works
Signal strength carries most of the weight. A warm intro scores 40, a designer job post 35, fresh funding 30, a launch 25, a rebrand 20, a tired website 15. A signal the search could not confirm from the company itself counts three quarters, and one that did not check out counts half. Fit adds up to 20, since a small studio lands best with SMB and boutique clients first. Freshness adds up to 20. How reachable the person is adds up to 10, so a direct address beats a general inbox. Seventy and up is a strong lead, worth writing today.
A signal is a lead, not a fact
Every lead carries a proof link and a note. Open the proof before you write, because a job post that expired or a round that is old news turns a warm opening into an awkward one.

Your details
These go into every draft, in the sign-off and the closing line.
Appears as "I work for [studio], [this line]." Keep it short.
What you offer before asking for anything. The draft explains it in your words.
Your Claude account
Client Scout runs its searches on the Claude API through your own account, so runs are billed to you and nobody else can spend on your behalf.
Not connected yet.
On by default so you connect once. Switch it off on a shared computer and the key is forgotten when you close the tab.
What a run costs, and keeping the key safe
Billing comes first
Usage is pay as you go and is billed separately from any Claude Pro or Max subscription. A subscription does not include credit here, which catches most people out. If the connection test says the account has no credit, open Billing and add a payment method.
What a run costs
Pick the depth next to Find more clients. A standard run checks 10 leads, with up to 20 searches and 15 page reads, and usually comes to well under a dollar. A deep run checks 20 leads with a stronger model, up to 40 searches and 30 page reads, so expect a few dollars. Every lead gets the same checks either way. Watch the real number on your usage page, and set a monthly spend limit in Billing if you want a hard ceiling.
Keeping the key safe
Use a key made only for this tool. If it ever ends up somewhere public, delete it on the API keys page and connect again. The key lives in your browser and goes straight to the provider. It never reaches Written in Pixels.
If a run fails
The message under the buttons on the Pipeline tab says what happened and what to do. A key that stops working shows a fix on the connect screen.
Testing with us
If you are trying Client Scout for Written in Pixels, add the name we know you by so we can match your feedback. Counts of what you did (searches run, drafts opened, emails copied) reach us. Your key, your leads and your emails never do.
